Spring for SoHo: Hotspots for Chilling Out

Things are heating up in SoHo, and it’s time to start planning those evenings and weekends that make everything worthwhile. But where exactly are the district’s finest hotspots for chilling out? We know a handful that are guaranteed to put a warm smile on your face and a spring in your step.

Al Fresco Brunch at Ladurée

Paris is nowhere near SoHo, geographically speaking, yet an al fresco brunch at Ladurée will remind you just how New York has in common with the City of Light. The world-renowned patisserie was created by miller Louis Ernest Ladurée in 1862 on 16 Rue Royale and has now become synonymous with with impeccable cakes, croissants and sandwiches all over the world. The piece de resistance is, of course, the selection of multicolored macarons, which taste as memorable as they look. Gorge on salted caramel, rose and orange blossom goodies with a strong cup of cafe au lait, beneath the birch trees in the patisserie’s secret garden. Settle down in the fabulous outdoor space, bathe in the light of the sun or the glow of the string lights, and take a few moments out of your hectic week to enjoy la vie en rose.

Cocktails at A60

This bar’s full name may be Above Sixty SoHo, but regulars are on familiar terms with the rooftop retreat, calling it simply A60. This exclusive Thompson Street terrace opens its doors only to guests of the hotel below, private parties, and members, meaning it’s a tranquil spot to come and watch the sun set over NYC. Recline on the plush blue upholstery ensconced in potted plants and allow yourself to be served signature drinks tailor made to be sipped in the sun. A visit to A60 isn’t complete without ordering a Debutante’s Mule: Reyka shiso-infused vodka, swirled into lemon, apricot, and ginger beer. Sip on one of these and watch the city you love pass by on the streets below.

XOCO 325’s Private Garden

Of course, residents of the XOCO 325 condos can relax in the privacy of their own garden. Soak up the rays while reclining on the flower border-fringed decking, and listen to the wind gently sway your very own trees. When it’s time for a workout, make your way into the sunken fitness studio and pump some iron while admiring your garden through the windowed wall. When you look up at XOCO 325, there’s even more green goodness to enjoy thanks to the vertical gardens hanging over the glass curtain wall. Your bike is waiting for you in its private storage space, but with all this on your own backyard, we have a feeling it might be there for a while…
