DDG’s Chocolate Factory Condo Conversion Gets Graffitied

All developers should take cues from DDG when it comes to beautifying their construction sites.

They shrouded 345meatpacking in a black-and-yellow netting designed by Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama in 2012, and now they’ve tapped British street artist Ben Eine to jazz up the scaffolding at 325 West Broadway, the former chocolate factory that DDG is converting to condos.

Eine is doing several murals throughout the city in conjunction with his first solo show in New York, and the piece at the chocolate factory, which reads “THAT’S ENTERTAINMENT.ISH” in his signature blocky font, is his largest outdoor piece in Manhattan. This is actually the second installation of fun signage at the site; when the sidewalk sheds first went up last year, they looked like a partially unwrapped chocolate bar.
